The theme for this year´s gathering is climate change and Marcus Engman will share how IKEA works with Democratic Design, our way of working to make things better.
- We want to have a positive impact on the planet. It´s not only about IKEA being a good business in the way we produce, it´s also about inspiring and helping people to live more sustainable lives. We believe it is possible to do this and also make it affordable, beautiful, functional and made to last. We call it Democratic Design, says Marcus Engman, Design Manager at IKEA Range and Supply.
Democratic Design is a method for how we develop and design products at IKEA. To ensure we offer great products that contribute to a better everyday life, we include form, function, quality, sustainability and a low price in everything we do. The idea of Democratic Design is rooted in a tradition of functionalism and humanism. And in the commitment that everyone has the right to good products and solutions.
What Design Can Do is a platform to showcase design as a catalyst of change and as a way of addressing challenges of our time. This year´s conference focuses on climate change and how the creative community can contribute.
