Recent developments/actions
In recent years, IKEA brought together industry partners, local forest farmer groups relying on the forest for their livelihoods and WWF Portugal to help share knowledge about the importance of protecting high conservation value forests. Working with an association of small forest owners and a supplier producing board material for our own industry, we increased their knowledge about responsible forestry practices, taught them how to identify and protect high conservation value forests within the FSC forest management certification process to ultimately gain FSC certification.
